MANITOOK LAKE ASSOCIATION

BOARD MEETING MINUTES

AUGUST 26, 2008

(MSC = Motion; seconded; carries unanimously, unless otherwise noted)

Present: Dick Sonderegger, Mark Wilson, Karen Suponski, Elaine Thoms, Sue Nilsen, Steve Walczewski

Call to order 7:46pm

Discuss West Lakeview Road condition

§        Dick has been trying to contact engineers for quotes…no luck so far, but may be able to talk with some after Labor Day.

§        Dick will contact John Laudati and review our options/liabilities with him. Our options are:

§        Do nothing

§        Chain it off

§        Attempt to control the erosion

§        Make it a passable roadway

§        Jim Moloney has communicated that he would like passable access to the back road.

§        Stopped maintaining that section of road in the past due to recurring erosion difficulty – are there old minutes regarding decisions made by the association membership on this topic?

§        Sue Nilsen feels we cannot afford 2 to 2.5K expenditure right now (after regular expenses are paid, she estimates we would only have 1K in the account at the start of 2009 fiscal year if we made that roadway expenditure now.

§        Board discussing a phased approach to stone beds, trenches, catch basins

§        Rich started grading/digging some erosion control measures as part of his regular road contract, and Steve W has been clearing some of the brush piles in that area.

§        MSC to put a chain across the road (unlocked) in the location of the telephone pole between Nadine/George property and the back of the Thoms property as a temporary measure to dissuade through traffic. Need reflectors on the poles. Karen reminded to make the signs.

§        Follow-up board meeting September 18 – Dick to confirm via email

Upper road mailbox

§        Rust is increasing…can’t afford to replace this year. Sue Nilsen has some large pieces of plexi-glass she is willing to donate to lay across the top of the boxes to keep water out.

§        Steve noted that the shelter needs a new sill on back and siding replaced on one side; Steve said he will donate the T-111 siding needed but would like help to install it (Rich and Dick to assist)

§        Sue Nilsen offered to stain the shelter the same as the lower road shelter

Tag sale for FML

§        Discussed date of October 11 or 12 (no rain date discussed)

§        Location: beach property

§        Elaine, Karen, Sue to chair. Elaine will ask Nadine/George to be involved.

MSC to adjourn at 9:15pm

Respectfully submitted,

Karen Suponski, Secretary
