Manitook Lake Association Board Meeting, 7 September 2006

Attending: Dick Sonderegger, Madeleine Follett, Bart Barker (host), Steve Walczewski, Elaine Stuart-Thoms, Linda Knorr

Dick gave out the signature paperwork for the new officers.

Treasurer Sue Nilsen could not attend however she informed Dick that the dues collection was going well. 32 properties have paid to date and our bank balance is $8,642. We have paid for the float and street signs, although the street signs have not yet been installed.

Roads are in good shape. Rich Thoms has been trying to make a crown before the "October Deluge".

Elaine reported that she's planning on pulling the float out of the water in the next couple of weeks. Jim Moloney and Mike Bannon have done a good job cleaning the weeds out of the water near the beach.

Bart suggested making two small signs to be posted at the mailboxes to advertise the manitooklake.org website. He wanted to retain ownership of the domain name and website since it is currently residing on his personal webspace.

Elaine reported the that Swansons' house was struck with paintballs Monday night.

Charlie and Buddy the wandering dog are moving. The owner of the house isn't planning on showing the house again until winter.

Linda has been working a different guy who's researching invasive weeds in Connecticut lakes. We need to collect some baseline data and then monitor changes. We do not currently have the Eurasian milfoil. To collect the baseline data she needs some volunteers. She said she would also prepare a flier discussing various lifestyle changes we can make to help improve the health of the lake. Steve wondered if there would be any state grants or financing for weed control. Linda said she hadn't gotten that far in the research. Dick mentioned that Meriden got the state to pay for dredging a lake and they then put up a condo development around it. Maybe the town of Granby will want to do that especially if they decide to reclaim the land once Tilcon is done mining.

Linda also said that Doug Max might have a portable mill set up on his property and that would be in violation of the restrictions placed on him by the town. If any of us hear it we should call Fran Armentano at the town hall. Linda and Dick will try to find their copies of the restrictions so we can publish them.

Dick reported that John Laudati is considering deeding the south part of Lakeside Drive to the association.

The board agreed to rotate sites for the monthly meetings. Since everything seems to be pretty quiet we are not planning on meeting in October. The next meeting will be held 7:30pm November 2nd at Elaine's.
